TREATISE was an  Intelligent Energy - Europe” project that ran from January 2005 to June 2007 providing free training on sustainable transport subjects for energy and transport professionals.   In total TREATISE held 63 training workshps and trained 1722 people.  The project also helped trainees to start more than 50 of their own sustainable transport projects.  The project covered three areas:

  • Cleaner Fuels & Vehicles: an explanation of the key vehicle fuels and technologies, including their advantages, disadvantages, availability and cost.
  • Ecodriving: The techniques – and the theory behind them - that lead to more efficient driving.
  • Mobility Management: practical advice on how to reduce dependence on single occupancy car travel.

TREATISE also produced:

  • Reference manuals on each of the three subjects listed above.
  • An ecodriving simulator that uses a pc-based game to teach users to drive more efficiently.
  • A "CO2 Calculator", which allows users to compare the CO2 emissions associated with undertaking a journey by different transport modes.
  • A green fleet management tool that allows fleet managers to input details of their fleet and then provides advice about how the fleet could be ‘greener’.

The reference manuals and the fleet management tool can be downloaded from this site and the CO2 calcualtor can be accessed directly from each country's national home-page.   The ecodriving simulator is too big to be downloaded but a CD ROM of the simulator can be ordered from the national 'download' pages.
